How to play LinkedIn Pinpoint

LinkedIn Pinpoint is a free daily word-association puzzle published inside the LinkedIn app. Each day you get five clues that all share a single common theme — an industry, a category, a phrase pattern, a place. Guess the theme in as few clues as possible. You can play the official game on LinkedIn, or use our daily today’s answer page and complete archive when you’re stuck.

1

Open the game

Visit linkedin.com/games/view/pinpoint/desktop on the web, or tap the games icon in the LinkedIn mobile app. A fresh puzzle drops at midnight UTC every single day.

2

Read clue #1, then guess

The first clue is the hardest — it’s the most cryptic word that fits the theme. Guess right and you score five points. If you don’t see it, request the next clue.

3

Up to five clues, fewer points each

You get one new clue per skip. Each additional clue narrows the theme but costs you points. After five clues the answer is just one point — still worth claiming the streak.

4

Compare with connections

LinkedIn shows how your network did right after you finish. Streaks, scores, and leaderboards all build off your daily play — only today’s puzzle counts toward the streak.

Scoring at a glance

Earlier guesses are worth more. Each new clue you ask for drops your score by one point.

1Guess after the first clue5 pts
2Guess after the second clue4 pts
3Guess after the third clue3 pts
4Guess after the fourth clue2 pts
5Guess after the fifth clue1 pt

Strategy tips that actually help

Patterns from 748 past puzzles show clear themes — use them to your advantage.

✨

Think in categories

About half of all Pinpoint answers are simple category lists: “Types of pasta,” “World capitals,” “Board games.” When clue 1 is concrete, try to widen the lens — what bigger group does it belong to?

🔗

Watch for word-pattern themes

Common Pinpoint formulas: “Words that come before X,” “Words that come after X,” “Things that can be Y’d.” If clues look unrelated as nouns, try plugging each into a phrase template.

🎯

Hold guesses until clue 3

Skip-then-think isn’t weakness. The expected value of guessing at clue 1 with low confidence is lower than guessing at clue 3 with high confidence. Don’t burn your shot on a hunch.

LinkedIn Pinpoint FAQ

The questions Pinpoint players actually ask. Click any question to expand.

What time does the new LinkedIn Pinpoint puzzle reset?

A fresh puzzle goes live at midnight UTC every day. That’s 8 PM Eastern (EST) / 5 PM Pacific (PST) the day before in the US, and 1 AM in London during BST. Our site pulls the new puzzle every morning at 1 AM New York time, so today’s answer is on the homepage by then.

Where do I play LinkedIn Pinpoint?

The official game is at linkedin.com/games/view/pinpoint/desktop on the web. On mobile, open the LinkedIn app and tap the games icon — Pinpoint sits next to Queens, Tango, Crossclimb, and the other daily puzzles. You need a LinkedIn account to play and to track your streak.

How does Pinpoint scoring work?

You score 5 points if you guess the theme correctly after just the first clue, then 4, 3, 2, and 1 as you reveal each additional clue. The minimum is 1 point if you wait for all five clues. There’s no penalty for guessing wrong (you keep going), but each “next clue” skip drops your max score by one.

Why does LinkedIn accept so many spelling variants of the answer?

LinkedIn pre-generates a wide list of accepted answers for each puzzle — typically 2,000 to 4,000 variants per puzzle. The list includes synonyms, plurals, conjugations, common misspellings, and single-character typos so you don’t lose a streak to a stray letter. We only show the canonical answer, but the variant count is listed on every detail page.

Can I play yesterday’s Pinpoint puzzle on LinkedIn?

No — the official LinkedIn app only shows the current day’s puzzle. Once midnight UTC hits, yesterday’s puzzle is gone from the play interface. That’s why we keep a complete archive of every Pinpoint puzzle since launch — you can revisit any past day’s clues and solution.

When did LinkedIn Pinpoint launch?

Pinpoint launched on May 1, 2024 as part of LinkedIn’s new Games suite — the same wave that introduced Queens and Crossclimb. Puzzle #1’s theme was “All have hearts.”

Is PinpointAnswers.com affiliated with LinkedIn?

No. We’re an independent fan-built reference site. LinkedIn® and Pinpoint are trademarks of LinkedIn Corporation. We pull the official puzzle data from LinkedIn’s public game API every day and post it here so players have a permanent, searchable record. See our About page for more.

How often is this site updated?

Every single day. An automated scraper runs at 1:00 AM New York time (5 AM UTC), one hour after LinkedIn drops the new puzzle. Today’s answer is on the homepage by the time most US players wake up. The full archive is also kept current as new puzzles roll in.

What’s the difference between Pinpoint and other LinkedIn games?

Pinpoint is the word-association game — 5 clues, 1 theme. Queens is the chess-piece logic puzzle. Tango is a sun/moon grid solver. Crossclimb chains five-letter words by one-letter changes. Each has its own daily puzzle and its own scoring; streaks are tracked per game.
